FRONTIER INCIDENTS.
73
Along the north-west frontier trade in local produce continues to be fairly brisk. Except, however, in regard to the products of minor local industries there is yet no business being done in piece goods or other industrial products.
On the 4th inst., 30 ex-pickets in charge of one Mok King, arrived at Sham Chun for duty as tax collectors and examiners of goods, The men are not in uniform, but some of them carry revolvers. As far as can be ascertained they are not interfering in any way with frontier local trade.

Information is to hand that, in the Chines territory fringing Deep Bay, a gang of bad characters is secretly being enlisted for some obscure purpose
one story being that an anti- Red rising is cintemplated and another that the gang intend to raid either Un Long or San Hui, Castle Peak. Special police precautions are being taken to frustrate the latter object shoul such be intended.
There is no change in the general situa- tion on the Mirs Bay frontier. The a/l "Sui Tick" has ceased to operate between Sha Cheung and Hong Kong; the Taipo ferry launch "Tai Ping" having again undisputed monopoly of the Sha U Cheung passenger and goods trade.
